ENGINEERING / TECHNOLOGY

Technology

Nothing here is magic and nothing here is out of human reach. It is a small number of well understood ideas, built carefully by a small team, tested honestly and repeated until the data stops surprising us.

Propulsion

One small liquid engine, tested on a ground stand again and again until the data stops changing. We measure thrust, chamber pressure and temperature on every run and keep the traces, so a bad second on the stand is easier to find than a bad second in flight.

  • ONE ENGINE FAMILY
  • GROUND TEST FIRST
  • EVERY RUN RECORDED

Reusability

The first stage is meant to come back, be inspected and fly again. That means legs, a landing burn and honest teardown after every recovery, where wear is written down instead of waved away.

  • LANDING BURN
  • TEARDOWN AFTER EACH FLIGHT
  • REUSE ONLY WHEN DATA ALLOWS

Structures

Welded metal tanks and simple machined parts, sized with margin and proof tested to more than they will ever see in flight. Nothing exotic, because we would rather understand a plain design fully than half understand a clever one.

  • PROOF TESTED TANKS
  • GENEROUS MARGINS
  • PARTS WE CAN MAKE OURSELVES

Avionics and software

A redundant flight computer, sensors we can calibrate on the bench, and the same code running in simulation, on the test stand and in flight. Full telemetry is captured on every test so a failure has an explanation, not a theory.

  • REDUNDANT COMPUTER
  • SAME CODE IN SIM AND FLIGHT
  • FULL TELEMETRY CAPTURE

Ground and test

A test stand, a control shed at a safe distance and a checklist culture. Static fires and hold down tests come before any flight attempt, and every test has a written pass criterion decided before it runs.

  • STATIC FIRE BEFORE FLIGHT
  • WRITTEN PASS CRITERIA
  • CHECKLISTS, NOT MEMORY

Software and imaging tools

Aetheris Software builds the tooling around the hardware: capture automation, calibration utilities, the data archive and this site. Practical software, written by the same people who read the telemetry.

  • CALIBRATION TOOLS
